Visit the oldest operating general store in Ohio since 1840 that has been family owned for over 40 years. A great place for families and history buffs. You’ll see treasures of the past displayed, a huge variety of old-fashioned soda pop, should be world famous fry pies, ice cream, fresh baked goods, specialty gifts, bulk foods, and penny candy that only costs a penny. There is also a kitchen menu and deli counter. You can also enjoy your time by petting the goats, mining for gems in the sluice (seasonal), sitting on Eagle rock, taking a photo op at the old tractor or operating the mini diggers (seasonal). Sometimes you can even view the bakers baking, the player piano playing or have a chat with Mr. Chaffee in the old barbers chair. Many locals meet here giving it that true small town feel like you see in the movies. It can also be quite a busy place but everyone is having a great time. Just a couple minutes down the road. Be at the center of all our small towns around us getting together for an absolute night of fun. A truly unique experience as Amish and Yankee come together and cheer from the stands. Food vendors line the side of the stage as bull riders test their abilities. The live entertainment half time show is always a hoot. Watch as horses round the barrels and kids hang on to the sheep. Please visit their FB page to see dates and to purchase tickets and don’t worry all the seats have great views.

Mesopotamia’s Annual Ox Roast is the busiest time to come to our town. The great thing is our home is around the corner and still has its peaceful vibes. You still have your own parking spot but the lot next door may be a bit busier. Walk around the corner and the world will change in an instant! Almost 30,000 people visit during the weekend of July 4th, all to support our local volunteer fire department. There are vendors galore, food stands and our firemen are also making tasty Ox roast sandwiches over an open fire pit. Lots of music and special guests present in the center of our park. 2025 was our 51st event! This time holds a lot of memories for many of the people that attend. Please see the Mesopotamia Fire Station FB for a schedule of events and dates.

The spectacular rock formations have become its well-known trademarks. The beautiful quartz & sandstone cliffs resulted from erosion that wore away the softer rock layers to form the Ledges. They also lie near one of the highest points in the state, which creates the watershed divide between the Ohio River & Lake Erie. Visit their new glass bridge!
